Playing the Host

It's also nice to greet new users and ask them about themselves. At least half of our current users were greeted this way, and that's what caused them to stay. We want to live up to our name, "The Happiest Place on IRC!"

Talking to Parents

A lot of times, parents will join the channel to see if they can let their kids on. It's nice to hear from someone who helps run the channel what kinds of measures we've taken to make the channel better for kids, but you should also make sure they are aware of the problems with IRC that are impossible to avoid. For a more controlled environment, a MUD like the Imaginarium might be a better place to examine.
