| Once when i was little, I wished I could be another Mulan:she is a lot more powerful than the men soldiers;she has her own mind and strong will;she is the role model of both Asian as well as Western women! What I admire is her attitude in face of difficulties,she never give up to fate or let fate takes over her life.In fact,this film is more about the emergence of women rather than about the filial piety Mulan has to observe.The part on Mulan's marriage is done with a light touch yet it is a revealing scene.It seems that women after so many years striving for independence still have to be submissive to men.This is their one and only way to lead a satisfactory life. | |

| Mulan was an awesome movie.It was great. The songs were great too. Especially "BE A MAN" and "REFLECTIONS" it was great. It ranks up there with "The Lion King" and "Beauty and the Beast" (I know it said that on the package, but I agree.) My little sister baught Mulan and I've seen it zillions of times. It rocks! | |

| Ooh yeah! The crazed mulan addict! I'm not giving up without a fight. I still think it sucks. I'm not judging this movie on inaccuracies by the way. I am a chinese I just don't like the way they changed everything. Let me tell you, I am a great fan of Disney, this is the only disney movie i do not like. The animation was totally flat and mulan looks so steoreotypical...slant eyes and all. Many chinese people think that she's ugly. (Eat your heart out pal) That matchmaker thing was silly. Mulan's face looked so white...like a ghost. Only opera singers painted their faces white. (Don't try to correct me. I know what I'm talking about.) Oh yeah Xena, whoever you are. There's no solid evidence to suggest that this story actually happened. It's origin is in fact pretty obsecure, although it may have been based on a real incident. Your argument is that no one would make up a story about a female warrior. I don't think this is as improbable as you believe. True, China was rather chauvinistic in the old days, but there are stories of women who knew martial arts. Some women did manage to break free from the traditional mould. Anyone wants to refute this clain? I don't mind. I like arguing. Ps.What's this lion king business about? | |

| Disney has done it again! Actually, this is a first! I'm not Asian, but I really love this film! It brings tears to my eyes. I think Mulan is the best Disney film since Beauty and the Beast. Mulan isn't about sleeping princesses in enchanted castles and endless and pointed plots, it has something much greater. It has family love, self sacrifice, and most importantly, a seemingly and worthwhile plot line. I think it's worth seeing. here is a short review of Mulan: Mulan is the story of a girl who doesn't fit in. At her meeting with the Matchmaker, Mulan spills hot tea all over her, and to top that off, Mulan catches the Matchmaker's butt on fire! When her ailing father is called to war, it could only mean one thing, certain death. Mulan's irrepressible spirit compels her to do the unimaginable- she would fight in Fa Zhou's place. That night, she sheared her hair, thrust on her father's armor, and stole away into the night. When her parents found out, it was too late, Mulan was already on her journey. Getting blamed for a fight that MUSHU started, Mulan becomes everyone's enemy. Then, she claims to be Fa Zhou's son, Ping. Failing at everything in training, Mulan is left with choice, go home humiliated, or trust her spirit to give her the strength to climb a tall pole and retrieve an arrow. After fulfilling the task, she gains the respect of her fellow soldiers. At Tong Ho Pass, she causes an avalanche, and has to save her comrades. in the act, she is wounded. When her secret is discovered by the others, she is abandoned, far away from home. Then a horrifying fact comes to Mulan's attention- Shan-Yu and a few members of his "army" had surpassed the deadly avalanche! However, when she tries to warn Shang, he won't listen to her. Only Mulan knows this terrifying truth, and only she can save China from the sinister clutches of Shan-Yu. When face to face with the ruthless Hun leader, Mulan must search deep, down inside of herself to find the courage and strength to defeat Shan-Yu, save her country, and become a legend. by Geisha Girl | |

| I loved the movie! Me and my sister rented the movie for a night only and we were sad when our father had to return it. I thought all the songs were just great! Lea Salonga has the most beautiful voice! - I'm proud to say that I'm the same nationality as her, Filipino. I loved the song "How Could I Make A Man Out Of You?". Captain Li Shang was handsome even for an animated character - he looked more realistic than that cardboardish Sailor Moon character Tuxedo Mask. I loved the part when Mulan's ancestors were having a meeting to discuss what to do when Mulan left for war - especially when one of her female ancestors said - "But noooo.....Your grand daughter (Mulan) had to be a crossdresser!' Also when Shang was teaching the soldiers how to catch a fish in the river, how Mulan accidently caught Yao's foot instead. Mulan is the best animated movie I've seen in a long time. I think that Disney should make movies based on myths and legends of different cultures such as this movie and make a collection out of them. | |
