| It's great! Loved it! Asian Pride! =) I'm glad it came on tv cause I didnt see it when it came out...and of course I taped the movie! I didn't know a Filipina singer, Lea Salonga, sang the song "Reflection". Her voice is sweet! I didn't know Donny Osmond sang in the film too. He's kool. I give props to the movie makers and Meeko's page for the wonderful info. =) | |

| MULAN IS THE BEST MOVIE I EVER SAW!!!!!! I really like that lil' dragon Mushu, too.. and i reckon Cri Kee is pretty cute tooo.. Mulan is DA BOMB, though. I LIKE THE PART WHEN MUSHU SAIS "I am the powerful! The pleasurable! The Indistructible Mushu! Hey I'm pretty hot huh!" and gets stomped on by Khan AND THE PART WHEN MUSHU SAIS "What do you mean you aren't lucky!?!?" to Cri Kee AAAAAANNNNNDDDD.... WHEN MUSHU(again!!) | What a great film. :) My favourite is The Lion King, but Mulan is a very worthy second that I am proud to have in my collection of Disney movies. Nothing can replace TLK for me, but Mulan comes about as close as they can. :) | |

| MULAN is one of the best movies Disney ever made. I give it a 10+ rating!!! I have seen it a few times, and think it is very well written, animated, and performed. At first I was puzzled at why Eddie Murphy was chosen for Mushu's voice. I did not believe the hip street talk fit into the "Chinese" theme. But, after watching the movie a few times, I find myself laughing again and again at Mushu's lines. Eddie Murphy was the right one for the part!!!!!! The songs in the movie are great as well. | Mulan was a bit of a departure for Disney I think, not so ambitious as the Hunchback (I can't believe they let Frollo sing about lust in a children's film) but there was a simple story for the kids to enjoy, and subtle symbolic story for the grown ups Particularly with Li Shang. Li Shang is a serious, quietly emotional character that only laughs once during the movie. usually, the love interests are sappy, corny guys who love the woman because she's beautiful. Shang admired Mulan because she was brave. I'm a psych major, I look to analyze, maybe to some of you he wasn't present enough as a character, but I found it amazing that Disney chose to build a character out of subtle glances and little pats on the shoulder. Now, this psych major has something to say *draws deep breath* this is gonna be long. Someone commented that Shang didn't show enough emotional conflict in deciding whether or not to kill Mulan. I think that was done on purpose to either portray him as very stoic or to show that he never had any intention of killing her. I tend to think it was the latter. He only walked out of her tent and looked like he was thinking, I think what she said about protecting her father made the decision for him because he looks up, Chi Fu was the one who provoked him. I kinda think it was the only way he could protect her from the law. Notice, he sounds happy when he sees her at the parade, but decides to be purposely rude to her - like he's being mean so she'll go away and not get in trouble (not to be sexist, but men use this tactic a lot. It's conceiveble he's a protective person the way he's about to start a "don't talk about my woman" fight with Chi Fu at the end, and the way he tries to explain her presence to the Emperor), because when he's next seen he appears to be looking around for Huns, showing he does trust her. We see this clearly when her friends follow her and leave him (he gives that look hehe) Shang joins them, pats Mulan on the shoulder and gives her another... look. Also, it didn't seem to bother him that she was a girl, I think he was more mad that she lied "YOu fight good" is a compliment suitable for a soldier, he was going to say something else, but showed her instead his respect for her more in terms of equals. My ideolistic heart would like to think he fell in love with her when she knelt before him in the snow, struck by her beauty or something. I hope that was it. But I was intrigued by Shang cos he was open to analysis. I have a few probs with the movie. One is that the romance was a bit TOO underplayed at the end. They didn't have to kiss or sing, but when they landed at the bottom of the stairs he coulda held her hand or something. Some people don't get subtle things. Another is Mushu... waaaay overdone comic relief, as well as the Great Ancestor thing, you shouldn't poke fun at religious beliefs. Oh, and the fight scene where Mulan uses the fan to catch Shan Yu's sword, that was lame. Ok, I loved the movie, watch it a lot. Great for kids to see a female action hero, with things for the adults to ponder. Overall it had one important moral: If you are the only one in your army who never wears a helmet, you'll get knocked on your head a total of 6 times, and will be clueless as to what to say to your girl at the end. Mulan shoulda handed her helmet back to Shang and said "Honey, you need this more than I do." ehehehe | |

| I rented Mulan last night and was doubtful about whether it was as good as the critics said. However, I found that I had nothing to worry about. Being Chinese, my rating might be a little bias, but I still agree it was FABULOUS! I was impressed with the music, the animation and the characters. They were portrayed very well and I thought Captain Li Shang was such a hottie! Only one thing prevented me from giving this film a perfect ten. I was ill-pleased with the way the Chinese were portrayed. The slanting eyes and the pale faces were overdone although I agree that some emphasis should have been placed on these features. And the ancestor. This aspect of Chinese culture is serious and should not be made fun of. Apart from these small complaints, I loved Mulan and think it thoroughly deserves its title as a Disney Classic. Ciao~! Love, J.A.M | |

| THE BEST!!!!!!! I am a Mulan addict. This movie is so good, I can watch it for the eightieth time and STILL never get bored. It is so good, I cannot describe it. So, YOU THERE, reading this! Go rent Mulan NOW!! If you're a DVD'er who was patiently waiting for this GREAT movie to be available, it's on DVD, so there's no excuse for you now! Now Go, Go get it and learn exactly why 83.4% of people polled LOVE IT! (P.S. My fave scene: Last five minutes of movie.
