Mulan was a great movie, just one thing I don't like the most. I didn't like when the huns were invading china and Mulan's father had to go and defeat the huns, and as he practices, his leg was in deeep pain. Out of all the characters, my favorite one is Mulan as a soldier. I liked when she saves china and defeats Shan-Yu (the leader of the huns). He was pretty scary to look at, and heard he was 40 ft tall. Out of all
villans, Shan-Yu was pretty scary-looking. But anyway, I thought it was a great movie and would like to see it again.

Wow. I've only seen Mulan once, but I was amazed. I'm Chinese, and when I found out Disney was putting out a Chinese folktale out as one of their Disney Masterpieces, I was astounded. I loved Mulan! I think out of nearly all of the Disney Masterpieces, this was the only one worth paying $8 to see again and again.

Mulan was a beautiful story of love, bravery, and family life. It was truly the best masterpiece Disney has ever created. It is not shallow, but instead gives a deeper meaning on life. As well as lots of laughter, there are some tear-jerking scenes which touch the soul and activate the tear ducts.
I can really relate to Mulan because in a way, I am a lot like her. We have been through similar situations (gosh, you should see me in PE class) and like Mulan found her place, I hope that I can find mine someday.
Oh...did I mention Captain Li Shang? Apparently not. Well, he is a hottie and a major hearrthrob among teenage girls like me! He is even handsomer than Hercules! I was swooning over his topless scenes that I got kicked out of 3 theatres--just kidding! I just adore his bravery, rippling muscles, bulging pectorals, height, and his lovely, sexy voice. Needless to say, Shang will be in my heart forever.
Oh...and there are the cute wittle animals. Mushu, Crik-ee, and Little Brother. I was expecting Crik-ee to be boring but he's not. Mushu is so hilarious, especially when he's wearing a stupid pink and white apron! And I love Little Brother 'cuz I love dogs!
And Khan...not much but he looks cool when he rolls back in laughter.
Shan Yu...the villain...I didn't feel too much of him. I thought his bird was nothing till Mushu did something funny to him, but I won't say what.
I was thinking that nothing would surpass Herc. But Mulan did!
Needless to say, it's my fave movie forever!
And the songs are fabulous!
Go check it out now!
And remember, I love Shang!

I thought Mulan was great, a real step in the right direction for Disney. Both my parents liked it too. We can't wait to get it on video. We really loved the song "Be a man". If you haven't seen it, you should.(Maybe a couple times.):)

Probably the strongest Disney movie since The Lion King! My friends keep laughing at me because I've seen it five times now, but I really like it. The characters are much more rounded than is typical for Disney, and the animation, while nothing new or exciting, is excellent. I especially appreciate the great facial expressions.

Anyone else think that Shan-Yu is the first Disney villain that acts human rather than all-powerful? I like that.

Mulan is the best Disney film I have ever seen. I normally don't go watch Disney films, but was persuaded to do so by my sister who asked me to take my nephews. I was pleasantly surprised. I noticed that this film not was too "kiddie" like most Disney films. I think this film was geared towards more of an older audience than their other films, although my nephews greatly enjoyed it too. Mulan had many heart-felt moments and you really come to care about the lead character, wishing for her to succeed. The animation, as always, is very nice. I also enjoyed the humor. I have never went back to see a Disney movie, but now I'm actually waiting for the movie to come out on video so that I can see it whenever I want.

I've voted before. But since I've seen the film more than once, I think I'm entitled to vote more than once. :-)

I'm writing this mainly because of the Fan Fiction. I only read three of them. Although I find all young writers' enthusiasm refreshing, I don't find any of the storyline remotely convicing. The biggest problem is that the writers forgot Mulan is a story based in China. The writers used a lot of Western fairy tale plotlines that simply wouldn't happen in acient China.

The most obvious example is to have a third-party interference in Mulan - Shang match. Since at the end of Mulan, the emperor had made it clear he favored the match. In acient China, the power of the emperor was absolute. No one, not even parents, would dare to go against the emperor's wishes. So a third-party interference was simply not applausible. Shang, if he valued his career, he would marry Mulan no matter how he felt about her. The only one who might throw some obstacles to the match would be Mulan, which doesn't seem likely because we learned from the movie that she had a crush on him. Of course, some misunderstandings between lovers could be a possibility.

So the plotline would be limited if the focus of the sequel is solely on romance. It would make a much more interesting sequel if there's another crisis arises, such as some court intrigues. Of course, that's harder to write without understanding of Chinese court politics.

Anyway, I applaude all you young writers for trying. But there's an important lesson to learn if you want to pursue a writing career: When you write a story based in a foreign culture and a long ago time period, you need to do a lot of research, e.g. the country's history, customs and etc., to make the story convicible. When Disney made the movie Mulan, they did the same. That's why it's much harder when you write a historical story in another culture. ;-)
