| I loved MULAN because, unlike many of Disney's later pictures before this one, this had a very good story, especially for the children. Also, the characters were very good and the show was filled with laughs. The songs are very good. I was drawn to this show especially because Ming Na Wen was the voice of Mulan, but I really loved Lea Salonga as her singing voice and Eddie Murphy was hilarious as Mushu. This was an excellent movie that should be Disney's ticket back to the top of the animated motion picture industry! A very good touch to the movie was its soundtrack including "Be True to Your Heart" by 98 degrees and Stevie Wonder. I especially like this theme song because it is a nice fast-beat song that is a pleasant contrast to the usual award-winning ballads that decorate the Disney shelves! |

| Mulan absolutely touched me! It is the first movie EVER to make me cry! I didn't cry in Titanic and people thought I was insensitive, but now I can tell them that Mulan made me cry and laugh at the same time! I love this movie but I wished they had more romance in it such as Aladdin. |

I love this movie! I've gone to see it twice and am planning to see it again tomorrow. I love virtually everything about "Mulan"! First of all, Mulan is a wonderful heroine. It was nice for once to see a Disney girl who isn't all wrapped up in the idea of finding a husband . Mulan's love for her father runs so much deeper than any romantic love. And no obligatory kissing! Great! I love kissing as much as the next teenage girl, but in disney you've just come to expect it and it has no impact anymore. Also, some people complain about the fact that Shan Yu had so little screen time and that he wasn't a well-developed villain.. well, all i have to say is that he is the one Disney villain that i have never gotten attached to. And I'm glad. He wasn't a funny villain either, what a relief! Ursula, Jafar, and even Hades offered the occasional one-liner. Shan Yu was mysterious, ruthless, cunning, and very, VERY scary-looking. The sight of a 40-foot-tall Hun with black-rimmed, glowing yellow eyes made me cower in my tiny theatre seat.
I also really liked Mulan's father. He had a certain je ne sais pas about him, a wiseness, and regal feeling. Eddie Murphy as Mushu was great! It took a little while getting used to his voice, but still, no complaints. And i'm sorry, Cri-Kee is SO cute. I can't help but whisper "awwww!" when he starts crying after Mulan is unmasked because he thinks he isn't lucky. And i thought Shang Li was alright and i really feel for him when they find the remains of his father's army and his father's helmet. I love the song of his "I'll make a man out of you." I think the strength of the song is when Mulan is climbing the pole to retrieve the arrow and when the instruments drop out and its just the chorus chanting... it's really stirring. Even my tough boyfriend was humming it later that day! =) And i really liked the Emperor, too. Pat Morita is great, and the character design is wonderful.
But my favorite characters have to be the Gang of Three, Chien Po, Yao, and Ling . The idea of a fat peaceful dude just sets me to giggling. ;) And Harvey Firestein is just superb in supporting roles. Ling however gets my vote as my favorite of all. His big nose and pointy ears are just so endearing. I crack up every time i see the scene where they all dress as concubines and the chorus chants "Be A Man!" Funny, funny stuff. And the bathing scene! AHH! I was laughing and worried at the same time. Ling is so cute. Forget Shang Li! I think Mulan shoulda hooked it up with HIM! =) IMHO.
So overall, Mulan is the best Disney flick to grace the big screen in years. I think it would do lots of people some good to remember that the story of Mulan is legend... it does no good to nitpick... and one of the many undercurrents of the movie is to embrace your masculine and feminine sides, so get over the whole cross-dressing/drag show thing! Who cares? It's a good movie!
Bottomline: Go See it!

| Hee-hee! Loved it! I'm listening to the soundtrack now! Given that I'm well into my boy-hater stage, I wasn't completely happy with the ending, but it was a very good movie! Disney needs more movies with strong female leads like this one!!! |

| Okay I have been obsessing with Mulan for about 2 years now! When I first found out they were making some acient chinese tale into a movie I thought.
