| Jonny Miller I love you.-even though I love Mulan more. You are exactly right. Prince of Egypt was good, but not even close to as good as Mulan. The animation in Mulan is what I give it the most credit(not even counting the beautiful score of the Movie). Disney is best. I can't wait till Kingdom of the Sun and Atlantis comes out. These good movies are from Disney and only Disney. I love everyone here. And Jonny please respond. | |

| I'm currently working on an animated short for next year (film festival entries) and I've come to appreciate Disney for its amazing and seemingly animation and magical stories. The retired Miyazaki's animation studio is another one of my favorite animation company because it offers much the same... great stories and animation. For me, Mulan exemplifies what Disney is and has become. You almost believe that she's human when you watch her -- the characters' rapport level is at maximum strength. It is one of the greatest illusion in cinematic magic -- making the audience believe. One of the top five movies of the summer (Saving Pvt. Ryan, Truman Show, Simple Plan, Elizabeth, and Mulan)! Someone mentioned Prince of Egypt in a previous posting. I had a chance to watch it at an advanced screening in California (I believe it premiered elsewhere a week before I watched it) and I liked it. Prince had great moments (a la the hieroglyphic dream sequence) and is filled with some of the most wondrous backdrops. However, it doesn't stack up to Mulan. Prince felt overlong and a bit awkward, plagued with awful and arduous songs, trapped by horrendous supporting voice overs (Sandra Bullock? Jeff Goldblum?). The animation was choppy, despite characters being well-drawn. The movements looked broken -- Dreamworks have yet to perfect camera control and character synchs, especially since they designed a new animation/cgi software specifically for Prince. Above all, Prince lacked the magic Mulan had -- I can't explain it. Watch "My Neighbor Totorro" and you'll understand what magic I'm talking about. It's a sense of fulfilment that makes you feel like you are 8 years old again and everything you wish for just might happen. When I walked out of Prince, I asked my girlfriend if she needed to use the restroom. When I walked out of Mulan I said, "wow... that was amazing..." and my girlfriend said, "I want to watch it again..." | |

| Mulan is the best animated movie ever . I don't see why The Lion King made more money when Mulan has muchbetter animation and is more expensive. Anyway, have any of you seen Prince of Egypt. I saw it once and I don't enjoy it at all, I'm not saying this just because I'm a disney fan. But I have seen people saying that Prince of Egypt has good animation. Anyone of you who've seen Prince of Egypt and Mulan, please be honest and tell me which movie you think is better and why. Personally, I think Mulan has stronger animation,not just the scenery, but the way the characters walk and wink look more treal than the characters in Prince of Egypt. Anyway, respond please. One more thing, I use to think Mulan was ugly but the more I see the movie(5 times), I more prettier she looks. Especially when she was leaving home and cutting her hair. Please write back and tell me if you think Mulan is pretty or not. I've already bought the movie on the internet. | |

| The movie was probably the closest Disney has ever gotten to a story. I think the art is excellent and the music is very well done. I thought it would have done better in theaters than it did! | It seems that I'm not the only one that agrees that after the lion king, disney movies have begun to flop. Pocohontas, The hunchback and Hercules just didn't live up to the standered of Diseny films, THEN just when you think diseny can't get any lower, they release this BRILLIANT movie. Living in Hong Kong, I love chinese culture, and Mulan was my fav story, so I was shocked when I saaw the movie and how brillantlythe story was told. Mushu was a real crack up, and watching this movie has encouraged me to find out more on that funny guy Eddie Murphy! This is (besides The Lion King) Diseny's best movie ever! | |

| I absolutely LOVED Mulan. I think it is one of Disney's best in a long time. The animation is just amazing as well as the songs. Some of the things that made Mulan such a hit were that Mulan wasn't a classic Disney beauty. Sure she was pretty but it was her courage, confidence, intelligence and individually that made her so. Also the movie wasn't dripping with sappy,lovy-dovy romance, this made it unique from alot of other Disney movies. I found that refreshing. Mulan is a great story about honor, courage, and one awesome woman.:} | |

| Mulan is THEE ultimate animated movie, EVER! I luv it! Well, I didn't acually Mulan, yet, but I saw both trailers, all the comercials, lots of images(from my computer), I'm making my own Mulan web site on Angelfire, and I'm trying to find Imperial Beauty Mulan. The toys I do have are: Matchmaker magic Mulan(I have TWO because my first one broke[boohoohoo], so I had to buy a new one. Tragic, isn't it when your favorite doll breaks, isn't it? Oh, yeah! My other Mulan toys are: Secret Hero Mulan, Basic Mulan, Deluxe Warrior Training Giftset, and a set of three action figures. Oops! I'm supossed to be writing my review for Mulan! Oh, well, here it is: Mulan is the story of a girl who doesn't fit in. At her meeting with the Matchmaker, Mulan spills hot tea all over her, and to top that off, Mulan catches the Matchmaker's butt on fire! When her ailing father is called to war, it could only mean one thing, certain death. Mulan's irrepressible spirit compels her to do the unimaginable- she would fight in Fa Zhou's place. That night, she sheared her hair, thrust on her father's armor, and stole away into the night. When her parents found out, it was too late, Mulan was already on her journey. Gtting blamed for a fight that MUSHU started, Mulan becomes everyone's enemy. Then, she claims to be Fa Zhou's son, Ping. Failing at everything in training, Mulan is left witha choice, go home humiliated, or trust her spirit to give her the strengh to climb a tall pole and retrive an arrow. After fufilling the task, she gains the respect of her fellow soldiers. At Tong Ho Pass, she causes an avalanche, and has o save her comrades. in the act, she is wounded. When her secret is discovered by the others, she is abandoned, far away from home. Then a horrifying fact comes to Mulan's attntion- Shan-Yu and a fe Membes of his "army" had surpassed the deadly avalanche! However, when she tries to warn her Shang, he won't listen to her. Only Mulan knows this terrifying truth, and only she can save China from the sinister clutches of Shan-Yu. When face to face with the ruthless Hun leader, Mulan must search deep, down inside of herself to find the courage and strengh to defeat Shan-Yu, save her country, and become a legend. | |

| Mulan, the best disney film EVER!!!!! Well, this is sort of a follow up of XENA's post. It is still not a known fact that Mulan is real or not, no one can prove it. And regarding her actions and why it would lead to her death, here is the reason: Emperors in China are regarded as the incarnation of dragon, another word, he is the god when no religion was in China. It is a known law that who ever lie to the emperor will be beheaded, and Mulan did that by disgusing as a man and told people she was a man. She's in the imperial army, the army of the emperor, so she is lying to the emperor, that's why if she was discovered, she needs to be executed. | |

| I can't believe it! Disney can still do good movies! Since The lion king, disney does mistakes and mistakes (Pocahontas Hercule etc). But Mulan are PERFECT!!!! The "technique of movie" are perfect, picture qualitie perfect, background perfect, all is perfect, the musique perfect too. Finelly a "serious" movie that are more for 12+ that for little kids. Mushu is very funny but i prefert Mulan don't really know why. I'm also very happy that honor are more important that romance in this movie. | I have seen Mulan only once, about a month ago, but almost the whole film is still fresh in my head. I intend to get it once it comes out on video. I have recommended this film to almost everyone who would bother to listen! In fact, I intentionally steer any and every conversation I have towards movies, just so I can mention and convince and brow-beat people into watching it! IT IS THE BEST!!! THE BEST!!! Also, I would like to point out that the story of Mulan is NOT, I repeat, NOT a Chinese legend. It is a TRUE STORY. (Of course, whether or not Mushu was real is debatable.) No one in ancient China would think up a story with a WOMAN for a hero, especially not in a WAR story. I know it may be difficult for most of us today to believe this, but the idea that a woman's worth depends wholly on her husband and her "ability" to bear a SON (not a daughter), is quite true-to-form of the old Chinese ways. Sadly, some Chinese families still think this way. Notice that the women in Mulan's family, except her of course, never talk back or disagree with the father. Even when Mulan started arguing with him, (and they probably agreed with Mulan that the father should not have to fight in the war), they could not say anything to support Mulan, because this is just not acceptable. It is not their "place" to do so. Some people say it was not clear why Mulan's actions would have spelled death for her. I think in light of the first scene, it should be apparent. Place yourself in their time, in their place, and you will understand quite clearly. Someone surprised me by saying they didn't like Mulan because she wasn't convincing enough as a warrior. For me, that was the best part about it! I was wondering how the moviemakers were going to convince us that a woman, who has never had any form of martial arts training (we're sure of that given what women were allowed to learn in old China), would be the 'grain of rice that tips the scale'. I certainly wasn't going to buy it if they had portrayed her as a Xena. Instead, they used BRAINS as her main 'weapon', and THAT is quite alright with me. :) True that this film does not have as many songs as some people would like, but after all, this is a movie, not a musical. I would not take that against the film. I loved the way they mixed the drama with the humorous parts. Case in point, the scene where they discovered the burned village, grabs the audience by the throat and brutally flings us into the horror of that destruction, where just moments earlier, the merriment of the army was carving an amused smile onto our faces. The animation and art is AMAZING!!! Combined with the actors' voices, it is riveting and powerful. I was astonished that I actually cried when Mulan's father said 'The greatest gift and honor is having you for a daughter.' Then again, maybe it's because I can relate to her so strongly. Yes. I am Chinese. Some people say they would have liked it if there was more romance in the story. What on earth for??? The whole point of the story is about HONOR. Mulan was fighting to bring honor to her family, not to impress some guy in the army so she can get a husband! As the title suggests, this is Mulan's story. It is about her struggle to BE who she is, even if meant, being different from who she SHOULD be. It is about her love for her family, her never-ending attempts to honor the family name. This is also why I am quite content that the film leaves all other characters in their 'secondary' role, and as such, what was written of Shan-Yu is perfect. I've got tons more to say about people's complaints saying the emperor will never bow to a peasant, that Mulan is ugly (thank the brains behind her figure!! They didn't give her huge breasts. Most Asian women don't have em.), that Shan-Yu should have been given more lines, etc. but this is too long already, so I'll stop here. If anyone has not seen this film yet, they should watch it if only for the one-second shot of Mushu pointing accusingly at Cri-kee. That was hilarious!!! Kudos to the animators, artists, actors, writers, and everyone who made this movie possible for such an incredible experience!!! | |

| No, I can't say that I've actually SEEN Mulan, but from what I know, you might as well say I have. Mulan is THEE best full lengnth animated feature film Disney has ever done. I'm probably one of the BIGGEST Mulan fans out there. I'm probably one of the biggest Disney fans out there, too. Mulan has everything. comical sidekicks(that would be Eddie Murphy, the voice of Mushu. DRAGON, DRAGON! Not lizard. He don't do that toungue thing! HAHA!), from enchanting artwork( the blooming cherry trees and all the backrounds in general). Don't forget the music! How could anyone forget that music?! The thumping beat in "Mulan's Decision" became rithmic with my heartbeat, my temples throbbed with exitment. You might be wondering, "How do you know what the music sounds like, if you haven't seen the movie? Well, it's like I told you . Being the Mulan fan that I am, I went out and bought the soundtrack(what could be more natural?). From the first time I heard it, I fell in love with the music right away. From the oriental sounding throbs, to the adequit drum rolls, to the realness in the characters' voices and the emotions. I felt as if I was there, I mean REALLY there. If ANYONE from Disney is reading this, PLESASE let me work at Disney! From before I can remember, I've wanted to work at Disney. And I'm a terrific artist, too!PLEASE! If you're going to make Mulan Two, I could write the scripts, plot, diolougue, ANYTHING! I'm obcessed with Mulan, and now I'm raving MAD about it! Okay, I think I've calmed down now, you safe to come back to your computer( just kidding, I just get hysterical at times). I thought Disney's movies were getting worse and worse after the horrible Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas. So, I was expecting another crap, but Mulan is absolutely brilliant!
