| After being disappointed by Pocahontas, Hunchback, and especially Hercules, it took until today (June 27th) for me to see Mulan. I usually have gone to the latest Disney animated features on the day they were released, but after such let-downs and excessive hype in the past, it took a while for me to go to the theaters. I'm glad that I went to see Mulan today, though!! It was easily the best Disney feature since my favorite, The Lion King (though it still doesn't top The Lion King in my book). The artwork and story telling in the film was wonderful. To me, the film took some time to get rolling, but once it started, I didn't want it to end. I've heard some people complaining (on newsgroups) about Mushu, but I thought he was a very funny and great character. Eddie Murphy's delivery was wonderful, and he made lines funny often just because of the way he said them. I'm so glad that there WASN'T a kiss between Shang and Mulan. Finally a movie about a Disney female who has more than romance on her mind! The animation was spectacular. I had feared that it would be stiff like "Pocahontas" but it was the total opposite: Even Mulan herself was squashed and stretched! I loved the cartoony qualities the film had. I loved the Asian look of the film. I loved that the dog, Little Brother, did not look like Percy from Pocahontas but a very unique creation. Too bad Little Brother wasn't used more. I loved the skinny dipping scene. What a hoot! Chien Po, Yao, and Ling were wonderful comic characters. My only gripe was that I felt the song "Reflection" was unecessary. Everything else was great. For the first time since "The Lion King" I will be seeing a Disney animated feature more than once in the theaters. | |

| My 8 yr. old twins have sang and acted out their favorite parts almost non-stop which is a good indication this Mulan was an exiting movie and I am glad we did not wait to view it | |

| I took my daughter to see this movie yesterday and it was great. She loved it and I loved it. I'm in the service, and during the bootcamp scene, she said "just like daddy". Sweet kid. I just got my daughter the internet service and she's been searching for Mulan sites all day. Just thought I'd surprise her by posting something up here. Hope she stumbles on this page. | I saw "Mulan" yesterday with my parents. We all loved it, especially me! Mulan was a real inspiration to all people, including men. She's realistically pretty, courageous, determined, intelligent, and above all, able to use her intelligence to defeat Shan-Yu and save China. In that way, she learns to honor her family and China without being false to herself. Maybe a real Emperor wouldn't have bowed to Mulan, but this isn't a documentary, and besides, she saved the Emperor and all China! Also, the visuals were impressive, especially when the Huns attack the Chinese army headed byLi Shang. Mushu was really funny, and didn't detract from the story, IMO. While the songs weren't quite as great as those of "Beauty and the Beast", they weren't terrible, and in fact, I loved "Reflection" and "I'll Make a Man out of You". Besides, Jerry Goldsmith did a terrific job with the music, especially in the scene where Mulan changes herself to look like a man and goes off to take her father's place. In conclusion, I should say that I never thought I'd see the day that another Disney movie would challenge "Beauty and the Beast" as my favorite nor another Disney heroine rival Belle as my favorite Disney heroine, but "Mulan" and its title character have done both. I hope it gets Academy Award nominations for Best Picture (even if it doesn't win) and for Best Score, and I want to see it again! Way to go, Disney and Mulan! Belle Book | |

| Mulan was a very powerful movie, the music also made it all possible. When Mulan was getting ready to go out with her father's armor, that scene was great. The music made it brilliant. Also when the army was training, the way they first were very poor...then in time, they grew very great. They turned as swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon. The ending wasn't what I expected though...they could have added more to it. But over all, the movie was hilarious. | |

| Mulan was one of the best movies I have ever seen. O thought it was the best Disney Movie that was made in the 90's. I liked Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahantas, but Mulan was the best. It was powerful and moving movie with a hilarious comic-relief. I loved the songs and memorized half of them. Mulan was flawless, except the ending was a little too sudden, I had expected a little more for an ending. | |

| Just saw it today (June 26) and must say after a few years of floppers this is one of the best Disney movies ever (I can't really say that it's te "best" since I still love Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Toy Story)! I only have a few complaints but overall the movie was wonderful! Being Chinese it was nice seeing and hearing things that I would only hear inside my house! Great job! | |

| I like the movie. However, I am not fully satisfied by the movie. The plot of the story is too simple, no suspense, no surprises. The warfare is also somewhat simple, although the hun horseback riders seem spectacular. The fighting scenes are not very well designed. It is ridiculous that a single "rocket" could annilate the hun troops and save the whole China. Actually, Chinese history is full of stories in which the weak army played tricks on the strong enemies and defeated them in a wise or sometimes funny way. Maybe the Disney guys could invite some Chinese people to help them design these battle scenes.It would make this film more like a masterpiece but may also make it PG rated. Anyway, I like this film and I really appreciate the Disney filmmaker's understanding of Chinese culture. | |

| Mulan is definitely the most enetrtaining film this summer(1998). I saw The Truman Show, X-Files and Dr. Dolittle but Mulan was the most funny, powerful and fastpaced of them all. The Truman Show was very original and unique but it had a terrible ending that just left the audience hanging and dry. X-Files was too frightening and complex(it would really help if you watched the series or you'll just get lost). Dr. Dolittle was funny... but not Eddie Murphy. Some parts were offensive, gross and not at all funny. Also, the songs were excellent and pretty catchy but the musical score was the true spotlight. The annimation and drawings were truly unique and advanced and just mouth watering. In conclusion, Mulan will truly satisfy and quench your summer movie thirst(especially if your a kid or a parent). Thats until Armageddon comes and strikes... | |

| Honestly, this movie is among the best I've seen with my 6 year old son; it rivals even Disney's own Lion King (saw it on tape) and may receive a best picture nomination like Babe. I was so wrapped in the movie that I didn't even notice the occasional songs (my son was bobbing his head to the war song) and the fact that I was watching a cartoon. I was kind of worried about watching a Disney animated movie since Hunchback and Pocahontas were boring (and a bit too mature for kids); and Hercules was agonizing because of the awful music and the painful songs. Last year, I took my son to see Flubber with a bonus showing of Mermaid, but after twenty minutes into Mermaid he said he wanted to go home... Comparatively, Mulan is more exciting. But Mulan was a great treat because not only did my son love the film, but I found actually enjoyment from watching it with him... | |

| I think Mulan might be the best of the recent Walt Disney Classics (since the Little Mermaid). The battle scene was spectacular and the artwork is quite unique. Although some people said that the characters look too flat (i.e. 2-D), I think the producers did it purposely (of course) to give a sense of ancient art. | |
